Seala Lokollo lives and works on the lands of the Kulin Nation in Naarm/Melbourne. Lokollo completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (RMIT) in 2017.

Lokollo's artistic practice focuses on exploring the intersectionality that exists between her Maluku Islands ancestry and Australian identity.

Using clay as her main medium, Lokollo builds large sculptural works that seek to embody the fundamental aspects of her cultural identity .

In particular, Lokollo is continuously drawn to the concept of the boat, and its significant role in Moluccan culture, not only physically but also conceptually within the structure of daily life on the islands for many thousands of years.

The boat itself acts as a symbolic vessel to transport both artist and audience between worlds - old and new, traditional and contemporary, East and West.
